the fashion fund

An extremely exciting blog post for me this evening as it is the first to be typed on my brand new birthday MacBook Pro (courtesy of one amazing husband). I know that this is the start of a long and happy friendship for Maisie and I (yes, I have named my computer). Last weekend I went to Federation Square to visit The Fashion Fund- the debut event for Melbourne-based, youth initiative WDC. It's heartening to see that the Gen Y's of Australia are committed to making a difference in this world and in such an uber cool way. WDC stands for We Don't Care and is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation aiming to make a difference by raising funds and raising awareness of social justice issues that impact our local communities including poverty, drug and alcohol abuse and human rights. The Fashion Fund, raised money by selling carefully selected, second-hand clothing and accessories at a pop-up marquee set up in the heart of Melbourne. I loved the clothing and bought a gorgeous dress that I'll have to feature in an upcoming style post. I also applaud the fact that whilst raising money for a social justice cause, they were also encouraging sustainability!
