dreaming of mexico

photos courtesy of www.cuixmala.com

I constantly dream about traveling. There's something about the experience that I find completely freeing. I feel blessed to have already seen so much of the world and yet there are still so many places that I am yet to explore. Mexico is one of those places! Every time I plan an overseas holiday, I am torn as to whether to go somewhere tranquil and tropical for a beach holiday or go on a sight-seeing, cosmopolitan adventure. Since I stumbled across Cuixmala on the east coast of Mexico, I have decided that a beach holiday is next on my agenda. Originally a private home, Cuixmala is now a unique Mexican resort, fit with all the trimmings of a relaxation resort but with enough activities to entertain the most restless traveler.

Cuixmala is dedicated to preserving and protecting the natural environment surrounding the resort. They have formed The Cuixmala Ecological Foundation that amongst many other achievements has seen hundreds of thousands of turtles returned to the wild. They are also committed to almost solely serving food grown on their organic farms. With vast beaches, a variety of accommodation options, organic dining, an abundance of pools and parkland and endless activities including kayaking, horse riding, snorkling, massage, yoga and mountain bike riding, the more I read, the more I love this resort. So now, only one question remains... who is coming with me?

chandelier surf shack

If I ever have the opportunity to decorate a beach house, I have found the house to use as my style inspiration. The Chandelier Surf Shack in Montauk, NY is owned by founder of fashion ad agency Chandelier Creative, Richard Christiansen and is for the exclusive use of Chandelier clients, staff and friends. I think I need to get a job there!

There's just something about neon colours that screams summer is coming! I'm dreaming of sunny days, beach holidays and catching rays tonight so I thought I would express my excitement pictorially. I hope you enjoy my little slice of summer inspiration.

castaway

A bit of indie fashion inspiration from Threadsence. I'm loving their Fall 2011 Urban Castaway lookbook. I really love the hi-lo skirt and plaid shirt outfit. I might have to invest in a hi-lo skirt. They are so versatile as you can wear them sideways and also capture the asymmetrical hemline trend!

corn fritters and the search for melbourne's best brunch

Over the past few months, since I started this blog, I have put together quite the list of Melbourne bunch hot spots. This morning I visited a relatively new and increasingly popular eatery, Axil. Check one off said list. Although I can't report on their main asset, their coffee, I can confirm that their brunch menu is sensational. I tried their corn and haloumi fritters with baby spinach, avocado, poached egg and salsa. It was fresh, satisfying and completely delicious! I also loved the spacious, industrial interior made even more inviting with great company and green tea. Most breakfast items are around $15 and meal sizes are generous.

door-to-door

Never before have I been inspired to blog about doors. But these doors, featured on Design Sponge, are really something! The are from the creative and captivating home of Armin Blasbichler in South Tyrol. I am particularly fond of the pantone colours glass door- how incredible!
