christmas tea

photos courtesy of www.facebook.com/whereagirlgoes.cristinare

A couple of months back I wrote a post about paper queen Cristina Re's shop Where A Girl Goes (read about it here). Cristina recently hosted a Christmas High Tea at her shop and it looked so beautiful I just had to share some of the photos. It has really put me in the Christmas spirit and with December just one sleep away, it's about time I embraced the season!

(P.S how adorable are those little Christmas coloured cupcakes!?)

slavery footprint

I subscribe to The Vine on Facebook for a daily dose of music, fashion, entertainment and current affairs. Today they had a great article about assessing your slavery footprint. You see, most of us aren't even aware of how many people have been enslaved in order to produce the clothing, cosmetics, food and services that we consume on a daily basis. You can read the article here. Website slaveryfootprint.org is a challenging and informative website that provides a survey to assist you in calculating approximately how many enslaved people contribute to your lifestyle. I thought that being a fair trade conscious person, I would fair reasonably well in this survey, but boy was I surprised with my results! So I challenge you to visit the website, answer the survey questions and most importantly, ask what you can do to fight the war to end slavery!

oh mabel

Inspired by her Nanna's crazy green patterned wall paper, her Aunt's textured woolly blankets, kiddie hankies and her mother's polka dot dress ball dress, Sarah Power has created a whimsical, feminine bed linen collection. Oh Mabel is manufactured using sustainable and socially conscious practices and is made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. Designed in Australia and made by a family business in India, Oh Mabel products are all unique with charming hand-printed designs. When I next update my bed linen, I know where I'll be heading!

gorman swim

photos courtesy of www.gormanshop.com.au

You can imagine my delight when I received an email from Gorman yesterday showcasing their new swim range. I love the bold colours, mix and match prints and retro shapes, all perfectly complimented by bold red cats eye sunglasses. On the website, I couldn't help but notice the great range of organic tees and tanks they have for summer and they even have some prints made to mix and match back with the swimwear! You can see the organic range here

california dreaming

I just love spending time browsing through inspirational photography. Today I have been admiring the work of Jake Stangel. These photos from his California project are my favourite collection but he has also done an amazing project about living in NYC that can be viewed on his website. By the way, does the last photo make anyone else want to go op-shopping for some coloured glass vases and bottles? Don't ask me what I'd do with them, I just have a sudden desire to build a collection of them!

holiday dressing

Free People's Holiday lookbook is a sparkling, magical celebration of the Christmas season. Each year, I buy a new dress to wear on Christmas Day and it's a tradition that I intend to uphold in 2011. I may just have to make it a Free People dress this year I think! Speaking of Christmas, I am gradually putting together an ethical Christmas gift guide that I look forward to posting shortly so stay tuned!
