It's been a crazy busy couple of weeks so I apologise for the slow posting. But in exciting news, during the last fortnight I have moved house and got a new job! I should be up and blogging as usual in no time. Looking forward to sharing a post with you shortly about my dinner party tonight. There will be photos and recipes to share I'm sure. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

peter alexander turns 25

images courtesy of www.peteralexander.com.au

There is one definite upside to all of this cold weather we've been having lately: cuddling up in winter pyjamas! If you're in need of some woolly bed socks, comfy pj pants or a new nightgown, you're in luck because Peter Alexander has just released his new catalogue and it's an homage to 25 years of Peter Alexander. That's right- all the best bits! It's your second chance to stock up on some of the best pj's from the last 25 years. I don't think I can resist that grey marl knit from '04 and the bed socks from '07 look irresistibly cosy and warm.

the wild unknown

"so I cut off my hair and I rode straight away, to the wild unknown country where I could not go wrong." Bob Dylan, Isis

The Wild Unknown is a collection of works by Brooklyn-based artist Kim Krans. I've grown particularly fond of her nature based illustrations but there is something so uniquely beautiful about her prisms. I can just see them sitting as the centrepiece on an old rustic coffee table.

h&m against aids

images and content via Style Decorum

It's times like these that I wish we had H&M here in Australia. I love supporting retailers with a social conscience. The latest collection of H&M Fashion Against Aids is a beautiful, bright Aztec-inspired collaboration. H&M contributes 25% of all sales to international youth HIV/AIDS awareness projects.

Here is what H&M said about their latest collection:
“H&M is launching its fifth Fashion Against AIDS (FAA) collection, to raise funds and create awareness about HIV/AIDS among the young. Available in around 300 H&M Divided departments from April 26, 2012 as well as online (where available), this year’s collection brings together ethnic influences from different continents.”

crushed peas and the search for melbourne's best brunch

I had some time over the weekend to enjoy the company of my husband. We've recently decided to make it our mission to visit all of the Melbourne cafes featured in The Age's recent "Coffee Army Handbook". Our first stop: Three Bags Full in Abbotsford.  Whilst I'm no expert when it comes to coffee (quite frankly I can't stand the taste of it), I am quietly confident that these coffee hotspots around town will also serve a mean brunch. I was excited to try their peas and eggs dish and it didn't disappoint with sweet crushed peas, perfectly poached eggs, a tangy tomato vinaigrette and crumbly feta. I felt comfortably full but not roll-me-out-of-here full and washed it down with a refreshing watermelon, strawberry, apple and mint juice. I won't deny that the sweet tooth in me felt a little food envy for Ben's incredible twice baked french toast with creme patisserie, rhubarb and almonds. It was a taste sensation but let's be honest, it's really a dessert more than a breakfast dish! I have it on good authority that the coffee was excellent too as Ben had 2 (or was it 3?!) as I sat sipping a chamomile tea. All up my meal was $24.00, not bad for a satisfying, slow Saturday morning.

these boots are made for walkin'

Some days I just love to pull on these old cowgirl boots. They are hands down the most comfortable boots I own (I would say shoes, but that honour surely has to go to the shoes I run in). Cowgirl boots are readily available from thrift shops and I have seen an excellent collection at the Again Recycle shop in Camberwell. Although they're not technically in fashion right now, do they ever really go out of fashion?

from bali with love

images courtesy of misterzimi.com

Everyone thinks of Bali as a relaxing, tropical, holiday paradise. Not too many think of just moving there permanently to enjoy the culture, serene environment and relaxed lifestyle that Bali has to offer. But that's exactly what Aussie Zoe Paul and her husband Jimi have done and the result is a wonderfully inspired fashion label- Mister Zimi, designed and made in Bali. I was so excited this morning when I received their winter collection email that I dropped everything to post the pictures here. By the way, how amazing is the location of this shoot?! I could live there in a heart beat...

elemental

images courtesy of www.two-hills.myshopify.com

I got a pleasant surprise whilst perusing some photography blogs yesterday. Whilst looking at Jacinta Moore's blog, I stumbled across Melbourne-based, handmade jewellery label Two Hills and their Elemental range. Their pieces are your everyday, where with anything (and everything!) type of pieces. Whilst the jewellery featured here is all silver, they are also available in oxidised and gold plated finishes. I'll have to save my pennies and make a few purchases here I think!

'zine wall

I am extremely envious of this amazing magazine storage wall from the New York apartment of Naomi Nevitt, editor of Teen Vogue. I can't help but think that this would not only look amazing in my house, but would also prevent any further arguments with my husband over the storage of my hundreds of precious magazines that I simply refuse to throw out. On a side note, if you are yet to discover the joys of refinery29.com I recommend you check it out. Full of fashion reviews, upcoming trends, style DIY and loads more, it's a daily addiction for me.

What could be better than a new Element Eden range?
A new Element Eden eco-conscious range! One dollar from the sale of each piece of the "Think Green" collection will be donated to the Rainforest Rescue Organisation, a NFP that helps to protect and restore rain forests.

myer autumn/ winter

nicola finetti / jess hart in toni maticevski / yeojin bae / leona edminston / cue

With the help of Jennifer Hawkins, Kris Smith and Jess Hart, Myer launched their Autumn/ Winter 2012 range last night at their Bourke St store. I particularly loved these styles because they provided an edginess and attitude that I haven't seen in many retailers to date, with most favouring romantic autumnal and jewel colour palettes and sumptuous melons, tweeds, velvets, faux furs and laces.

in the bag

Firstly let me apologise for the lack of outfit posting of late. I promise I will be back in action soon so please stay tuned. Today's post is a sneak peek into my handbag, a pictorial reference of the things I carry around from day-to-day.

1. Suvana organic paw paw and honey lip balm is my everyday essential. I don't wear tinted lip gloss very often, just some paw paw to keep my lips healthy. You can buy it here
2. Grown organic vanilla and orange peel hand cream to stop my hands going dry in the Australian sun. Read more about it here
3. A banana, the ultimate snack on the run.
4. My iPod nano, filled with all of my favourite tunes, neatly compiled into playlists to suit my mood. My current obsession (actually it has been for a while now), is Brooke Fraser's 'Flags' album.
5. My T2 stash. I can't function in the morning without a cup of gorgeous geisha green tea.
6. My new lomo baby! I'm just playing with it at the moment but will be sure to show you guys the results.
7. The latest issue of Peppermint mag.
8. My wallet from Anthropologie.
9. This cute little case is from Sportsgirl and is so handy for storing things like my earphones so that they don't get lost and tangled up in my bag.
10. The bag I used today is a stripe tote from Sportsgirl.
