the travel diaries: happy snaps

It's fair to say that Ben and I love to travel. There's a real thrill we feel when jumping on a plane and go and explore a new country. This time round, we spent 5 glorious days in Bali. It was a last minute trip too so it was super exciting when we got on the plane to jet off for a few days in paradise. I will post some more photos of Bali soon but I thought I should hurry up and at least post some of my happy snaps given that we've been back for a week now. We stayed at The Westin resort in Nusa Dua. It had everything we were after: a beautiful beach, picturesque swimming pools, great food and cocktails and a blissfully relaxing spa. We also had a great time exploring some night spots in Bali and can highly recommend a visit to Rock Bar (Ayana Resort, Jimbaran) and Ku De Ta (Seminyak) for sunset drinks, Sarong (Seminyak) for an amazing meal and Potato Head (Seminyak) for an all round cool dining and drinking experience by the water.

Don't you just love it when you find talented Aussies making their mark with beautiful, original collections? Pushmataaha is an eclectic jewellery range, handcrafted by talented artisans from organic semi-precious stones and metal. In their words: "Our collection has a unique aesthetic, which is a culmination of living with one foot in Australia and the other on a bejewelled planet in a galaxy far far away!" I love it!

a bit of blog love

I am nothing if not an avid blog reader. Here are some of my favourite style bloggers from around the globe for a little Thursday night inspiration. Now it's time for me to hit the hay. I started a new job this week and despite a nice break in the middle of the week, am completely exhausted! Night dreamers...

Today I felt like wearing something a little edgier so I started my outfit with my new crop from Topshop. I was inspired to wear it after I spotted it on Rihanna at Coachella with some super cool studded cut-offs. I love the distressed 'peace' print and the retro black wash colour. I also cheated a little height today in my Marant-inspired hidden wedge high tops.

croque madame and the search for melbourne's best brunch

We were driving down Church st Hawthorn a few weeks ago when a little French cafe Le Flaneur caught my eye. I hadn't noticed it before but it looked very sweet and quirky so we decided to stop for some brunch. Being a French-inspired cafe, I opted for a classically French breakfast and had Croque Madame: a take on a ham and cheese toastie with béchamel sauce and a fried egg on top. It was made with deliciously fresh brioche bread and was very tasty (but also very rich). I think it would be the perfect answer to a big night out. I also had a green tea which came in a cute glass teapot with a mismatched, colourful cup and saucer. With a new Parisian pastry chef on board Le Flaneur will only get better and is definitely worth another visit soon.

We celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary on the weekend! (And we're experts at it now...) I loved dressing up for a night out in the city with my man, having a great meal at Maha and enjoying the festivities of the Melbourne Comedy Festival. Big belly laughs all night long! By the way, I bought these shoes at Topshop back when it opened here in Chapel street and have been saving them for a special occasion.

high tea

A few weeks ago I spotted an article in The Age newspaper about Melbourne's best high tea venues. Unable to resist a girlie high tea date, I booked the Hotel Nest for my Mum's birthday and had a Sunday afternoon treat with my Mum, sister Katherine and Grandma. There was a fantastic variety of teas available and the food was sensational. Gourmet sandwiches (including the classic cucumber), hot savoury treats, scones with jam and cream, warm tea cake and my favourite course; couture inspired cakes and sweets!
